Dear Alumni Advisory Council Members,

I am writing to you today to welcome all of you to our AUCVM Alumni Advisory Council ListServ. This group has been created to manage e-mail discussion groups within our council membership. In this initial email we will be giving you instructions about the ListServ and giving you many updates related to the Spring Meeting. A big thank you to Brandee Payne for setting this up for our group.

This year's Annual Conference has been moved to October 18 - 21, 2018 which means our Spring AAC Event will now be a two day meeting. We will kick off with the AAC sponsored faculty reception at the home of former council member and Chair, Dr. McClary on Thursday, April 26th at 5:30 p.m. We plan to send out over 100 CVM invitations to faculty members and guests and expect a big turn-out. As suggested at our last AAC meeting, we plan for Dean Johnson to make a formal introduction of faculty members to the council. I can't tell you how much faculty enjoy and appreciate this event and your enthusiasm for the work they do here at the College.

This year's council meeting will begin on Friday, April 27th with a 7:30 a.m. breakfast in the Newsom Auditorium in the Bailey Small Animal Teaching Hospital. We will be available in the lobby to take you to the meeting room. We plan to begin our meeting promptly at 8:00 a.m. The agenda is full, but am pleased with our plans for the day. Each year, the student leadership meets for lunch on this day with all of you. This gives students and council members a chance to visit with one another and the feedback we receive about this luncheon is wonderful.

Dr. Rick Tubbs takes the helm as the AAC new Chair at this meeting. Two board members have expressed an interest in serving as Chair of the Alumni Advisory Council after Dr. Tubbs completes his term. Nominees are Dr. Charles Franz and Dr. Charles Hart. Please send me via email your votes.

This year's Centennial Club Recruitment and Recognition event will be held on Friday, April 27th at 5:30 p.m. at the Alfa Pavilion. We hope you will bring a classmate or another Auburn veterinarian who is not yet a Centennial Club member, to encourage them to support the college this way.

I have additional information for you, but think a bulleted format would be much easier for review:

  * The Auburn University Veterinary Academy has officially been launched. The academy is designed for practitioners seeking in-depth, intensive continuing education experiences. If you are interested in additional information, please call Meredith Smildsin at 334.844.2497.
The 2018 Seminars are scheduled are:
ü  March 3 - 4:       Dermatology, Dr. Robert Kennis/Dr. Amelia White
ü April 28-29: Ophthalmology, Dr. Anthony Moore/Dr. Shannon Boveland/Dr. Richard McMullen
ü August 25-26: Cardiology, Dr. Seungwoo Jung/Dr. Randolph Winter
ü  October 18-21:  111th Annual Conference

  *   As you know Dean Johnson had the vision to move the College's Annual Conference to the fall.  The dates for this year are October 18 - 21, 2018.  The Annual Conference Committee has worked extremely hard to bring robust attendance, strong corporate engagement and meaningful education to the conference;
  *   The conference will move back to the Auburn University Dixon Hotel and Conference Center;
  *   Our Fall AAC meeting will be held on Friday, October 19th and the meeting space will be determined in the future;
  * On October 19th, we will be hosting the "Because this is Auburn" campaign close celebration at the College of Veterinary Medicine. As you know Auburn's goal was $ 1 billion and that was surpassed 16 months early. The College of Veterinary Medicine's part of that goal was $69 million and we have surpassed that by 119% and the counting isn't quite closed! This is our opportunity to thank you for all of your contributions and to show you the impact your gifts have made on your College of Veterinary Medicine. Brandee Payne and Gail Crowell are working hard to make this night memorable for you and your families.
  * As you can see, in 2017, we are not hosting the Centennial Club event in conjunction with Annual Conference. We chose, instead, to have two events so we can thank all of our donors for their participation in the epic "Because this is Auburn" Campaign. Next year, the Centennial Club recruitment and recognition event will move back to the Friday night of Annual Conference.

Many thanks for your continued support and the time you graciously give to Auburn University and the College of Veterinary Medicine.

War Eagle Always,
Diana
