Subject: [Cvm-Outdoors] Winter hiking!

Don't forget that winter is a great time to hike in Alabama!  Last weekend we hiked a chunk of the Skyway Loop heading west from the Turnipseed Campground (campground closed until March FYI).  Lots of nice water, pretty winter scenery, still some leaf color.  Take advantage of this glorious weather...after all, it's what we suffer through infernal summer for! We hiked Kennesaw Mountain yesterday and did the shorter trail (around 3 miles total). Great hike and so many doggies!

Kennesaw Mountain is indeed a great place for a winter hike. We did the ~6-mile loop in January a couple of years ago. We were pleasantly surprised to find there was no admission fee and not even a parking fee.
