Kennesaw Mountain is indeed a great place for a winter hike. We did the ~6-mile loop in January a couple of years ago. We were pleasantly surprised to find there was no admission fee and not even a parking fee.

Lots of nice water, pretty winter scenery, still some leaf color. Take advantage of this glorious weather...after all, it's what we suffer through infernal summer for! For those who are interested, here's the info on this trail: https://www.alltrails.com/trail/us/alabama/skyway-loop-trail And here's some creek porn fer ya ta drool over. :)
