>From Dr. Reppert:
Phi Zeta Members-
On Sunday July 27, when I went to craft congratulatory emails to the winners of the manuscript competition I realized a grave error. Both manuscripts had originally been submitted in the Basic Science category and were evaluated in the Basic Science category. When I receive the rubrics from reviewing institutions, I create an Excel sheet with the authors name and score. In doing this, I inadvertently placed Dr. Feijo’s manuscript in the Clinical Track category. When Dr. Feijo’s manuscript is placed into the proper category of Basic Science two things change:
1. The score is higher than Dr. Kulpa (the presented winner of the Basic Science category).
2. Dr. Black’s manuscript entitled “Case report: Localized coloproctitis caused by novel Basidiobolus arizonensis in a dog” is the highest scoring manuscript in the Clinical track category.
Therefore, the winners of the 2025 Phi Zeta Manuscript competition should be as follows:
Basic Science Category: Dr. Feijo
Clinical Science Category: Dr. Black
Unfortunately, Dr. Kulpa’s manuscript is not an award winner. I am terribly sorry for the mix up and my deepest apologies. Congratulations to Dr.’s Feijo and Black.
I thank you all for your participation and understanding,
Emily Reppert
